Originally founded in 1992 as Open Door at Christmas, Cheltenham Open Door gradually expanded and became both a registered charity and limited company. Cheltenham Open Door supports vulnerable, disadvantaged and lonely people and we work with them to relieve poverty, hardship and social or emotional distress.
Anyone can help out at any time with this great community project. Over lockdown we have been part of the Churches Together Winchcombe initiative to give 200 Goody Bags (a plant, a few chocs and sweets and either a small soap or some tea and coffee sachets) and were delivered to those shielding or vulnerable or on the Co-op delivery list (provided by the volunteers in the Winchcombe Task Force created because of lockdown).
Similar craft bags had been delivered to young families by Winchcombe’s evangelical church members.
Our next project is a series of Radio programmes on Winchcombe Radio about Julian of Norwich’s revelations.
